Network Tasman has appointed Oliver Kearney as its new CEO designate. Mr Kearney will take over from long-serving CEO Wayne Mackey when Mr Mackey retires at the end of September after 18 years with the company.
“The CEO position was advertised nationally and attracted a large number of applicants,” says the Chair of Network Tasman Ltd’s Board of Directors, John McCliskie.
“The Board recognises the changing face of the electricity industry and the impact technologies such as electric vehicles, photovoltaics and residential storage batteries will have on the company. We were seeking a new CEO with strategic and commercial skills, and the ability to navigate the many changes ahead within the electricity sector.
“Oliver was an outstanding applicant with the financial and commercial skills required to ensure the company builds on its existing successes and continues to respond to the challenges ahead.”
Mr Kearney is currently the Finance and Administration Manager for Network Tasman Ltd. He has worked at Network Tasman for 10 years and is a chartered accountant.
Mr McCliskie paid tribute to departing CEO Wayne Mackey. “Wayne has led the company with prudence and the Board is very grateful for his work on behalf of consumers and the company.”
Network Tasman owns and operates the electricity distribution network in the wider Nelson and Tasman areas, excluding Nelson Electricity’s supply area in Nelson city. Network Tasman’s mission is to operate a low cost, open access electricity distribution network that reliably and efficiently distributes power to its approximately 38,500 residential and commercial consumer connections. Network Tasman is owned by a consumer trust – the Network Tasman Trust.

Electric vehicles are attracting a lot of interest in our region and it's great to see the community using the charging stations Network Tasman has installed.

Two new stations to fill up your car are being built in the region but there won’t be a drop of fuel in sight. Rather than the traditional petrol and diesel pumps, the two stations in Takaka and Nelson will be pumping energy.
