Network Tasman has installed three electric vehicle charging stations to support the use of electric vehicles in our region.
The most cost-effective way for EV users to charge their vehicles is by charging them at home overnight. However, public charging stations provide a good option for EV users who are travelling or who need a top-up charge when they’re out and about.
Location of our fast-charging stations
Network Tasman has installed electric vehicle fast-charging stations at the following locations:
Millers Acre Car Park/Nelson Information Centre Car Park
81 Trafalgar Street
Takaka Information Centre Car Park
16 Willow Street
Harkness Car Park (beside Richmond Library)
280 Queen Street – access to the car park is from McIndoe Place or McGlashen Avenue
Our fast-charging stations have cables attached which simply plug into your vehicle.
Payment through the ChargeNet system
Network Tasman has provided complimentary use of its three fast-chargers for an initial period. From 1 August 2018, the charging units will join the nation-wide ChargeNet network. The charging stations can be activated by using a ChargeNet RFID fob, through the ChargeNet app and on the ChargeNet website
To use any of these options, you will first need to register and create an account at charge.net.nz.
After creating an account, a radio frequency identification (RFID) fob can be ordered.
If you are activating the stations using your smartphone on the app or on the charge.net.nz website, press “start charge” and ensure you have selected the correct charger location.
If you have any difficulties, please phone 0800 2CHARGE (0800 224 274) and the charge.net.nz team can activate the station for you. The ChargeNet team try to be available 24/7 on a voluntary basis. If you can’t get through on the phone, it is best to keep trying rather than leaving a message which won’t be answered until business hours.
For pricing information please see charge.net.nz/my/station
