Discounts are calculated at a set rate per kilowatt hour (kWh) of consumers' total consumption.

The discount rate for July 2017 is 2.2 c/kWh including GST for residential consumers, and most business and commercial consumers that have an active metered on 10 July 2017 . Network Tasman calculates your discount using consumption (kWh) for the 12 months to 31 May 2017.  This data is provided by your electricity retailer, using meter readings at your connection (ICP).

Discounts will vary between consumers because of consumers' different levels of electricity consumption.  As an example, however, in May 2017 a residential consumer using 8,000 kWh/pa receives a discount of $176.
